Kaiju Wars: Gotengo

Description

“Fire again, men! Knock that bug on his ass!” The Gotengo’s captain roared as the team unloaded into Gigan again. The battleship Gotengo hovered toward the Kiliaak kaiju, launching salvo after salvo of missiles. With a roar, Gigan took to the air. He flew to the newcomer and revved the saw in his chest. The battleship shook as Gigan carved a line through the top of it. As Gigan flew, Leviathan leapt into the air and slammed both fists into the assassin’s back. Gigan hissed as it fell to the earth. Immediately, Gigan leapt up and dashed to a safer distance and faced its foes, its red eye glowing as its laser charged.
Leviathan’s chest glowed with a swirling green light, and he fired at the attacker. Gigan’s beam met Leviathan’s in midair and exploded in a blinding flash. As both kaiju reeled back, another salvo of missiles burst forth from Gotengo and struck Gigan head-on. Captain Alex Kerr yelled with triumph as Gigan staggered back. The cyborg regained its footing faster than expected however, and charged toward Leviathan again. Gigan shrieked as it swung its enormous claws at Leviathan. He blocked them off of the energy fields covering his arms. Swinging faster and faster, Gigan pressed Leviathan back. Both kaiju were like a blur as they fought. Gigan’s blades seemed to slice through the very air as they flashed. Neither kaiju could gain the upper hand.
Suddenly, Leviathan coated his foot with the green light and kicked downward. He struck Gigan’s right leg and tore through the armor. Gigan’s blade-like foot fell to the ground, leaving a sparking stump. Gigan roared and fell back. Supporting itself with its tail, Gigan struggled to stay standing. Leviathan roared as the energy field on his arms flashed as he swung downward. he struck one of Gigan's swords, shattering it.
Within Gotengo, the captain ordered, “Fire absolute zero cannon! Hit that bastard square on!” The drill on the ship’s prow spun and a blue light glowed from the tip. The drill shot forth an icy blue beam. It struck Gigan in the chest, and frost grew along its body as it froze solid. Gotengo advanced, firing missiles as it went. Gigan roared as frost covered his body, and slashed at Leviathan, leaving a deep gash in his right arm. A moment later, Gigan’s arms were immobile, and the assassin roared with frustration.
Leviathan grabbed Gigan’s shoulders and tore the robotic arms out of their sockets. As the frost spread upwards, Gigan screamed an earsplitting roar. Suddenly, his “wings” flared, and Gigan rocketed skyward at an astonishing speed. As the assassin ascended, it clawed Leviathan’s chest with its remaining foot, carving a line through to the side of his head. Leviathan’s blood spurted from the wound as the wind knocked him back. The shockwave knocked Gotengo out of the air, and the ship spiraled to the ground. Leviathan staggered back into the ocean, saying through Gotengo’s speakers, “it is gone. You must send help to the people of this city. I must go to heal myself.” And with that, he slid into the ocean and swam away slowly.
Captain Kerr was stunned. Victory was theirs, clearly, but Leviathan’s words surprised him. There had been rumors of the thing speaking before, but he had always been skeptical. He could believe that Leviathan was no longer aligned against humanity, but only now did he see the creature as a true ally to humanity.
“The creature is right. Radio for disaster response teams immediately!”

... ... ...
Gigan knelt before his lord. Kronos had not even allowed repairs yet. The cyborg struggled to keep its composure through the pain its robotic body was in. he knew the price of failure. Kronos stood before him, his fists clenched, "Tell me again, assassin, why you failed to carry out your assignment." Gigan looked up, "I held my own until the humans arrived. and I hate to remind you that you yourself failed to kill that beast, even when he lacked the assistance he had this time." the sockets that once held Gigan's arms fizzled with electricity as the cyborg grew more nervous.

Kronos was enraged by the mention of his defeat, and stalked closer to Gigan and placed one massive hand on its forehead. "Gigan, you are my favorite tool, but I cannot allow that to hide the fact that you failed." Electricity surged through Gigan's body. Kronos' gauntlets crackled and smoked as the assassin screamed in agony. "yes, Gigan, feel it. the pain will be a constant reminder of your failure." Kronos upped the voltage, "But when I am done with you, you will never feel pain again."

NAME: Gotengo
SPAN: 60 meters from prow to aft
FACTION: GDF

POWERS: The Gotengo battleship is one of the most notable non-mechas in the GDF arsenal. it is armed to the teeth, and very powerful. its hull is littered with solid-shell explosive cannons. the drill on the front can be used to pierce through a foe while going at top speed. along the sides are anti-gravity spheres that have been recently added onto the ship. these spheres allow the ship to fly through the air, directed by thrusters along the hull of the ship, as well as navigate the ocean. The lower aft houses a hangar that can deploy many small fighter jets to aid in battle. the most dangerous feature of the ship is an absolute zero cannon housed in the drill. this technology can freeze an opponent solid in moments, immobilizing most enemies.

After living in New England for so long, i have developed a liking for battleships and naval vessels. that being said, i can't draw them all that well... This picture may not be my best work, but Gotengo will always be a favorite of mine, simply because it breaks the mold from other kaiju media. Enjoy your double post, everyone!

Honestly, this whole thing can be pegged on Kronos. HE was the big genius who thought it a good idea to send Gigan down there alone. Because if he'd sent him down there with Megalon, he might have at least lasted a little longer. Both humanity, and Leviathan should be a good hint that teamwork is key to ultimate victory.:)
