Kaiju Wars: Project Lazarus

Victoria Davis sat in the mess hall, a copy of the GDF Kiliaak files in her hand. A cold plate of food sat neglected as she pored over the information. She was staring at an image of a familiar four armed shark kaiju. Kraken. For a while, this had been how she spent her free time, reading every report, every scrap of information she could find on the monster that killed her parents. She wanted to be out there hunting for it with her brother, but she was only permitted to use ArchAngel when the GDF allowed her too. So she sat, and she waited. Her left shoulder throbbed, as it often did in the morning, a constant reminder of her biggest mistake, the day she wasn’t fast enough, and had lost more than her arm. She longed to be out there in ArchAngel. When she was in the mech, she felt powerful, as if she was unstoppable. She felt whole. When she was jacked in, she could do anything.
And yet, here she sat. Small, insignificant, and broken.
pathetically human.
She turned the page with a sigh, and Kraken’s ugly face leered back at her. As she read, a uniformed man approached. Saluting, he said “Ms. Davis, You are needed in the Combat Information Center. The Commander says it’s urgent.”
Victoria closed the folder and stood. She thanked the messenger and took off. Being summoned to the CIC meant a mission, in Archangel. It was all she could do not to sprint as she left the mess hall.
Upon arrival, Victoria saw her brother and the Commander. She snapped to attention and saluted.
“At ease. Thank you both for coming. Intel has intercepted a number of reports from the Kiliaak; they’re launching a major offensive on our UK headquarters. They should be landing in 19 hours. They’ll be accompanied by two class one kaiju, known as Kraken and Orga. Unless I’m mistaken, you two have a history with the ‘Kraken’, correct?”
Victoria and Joseph tensed as that name was said. In perfect unison, the siblings both said, “Sir, yes sir.” Victoria’s hand tightened into a fist.
The Commander continued. “I want both of you to assist in the defense; your job will be to keep those two beasts at bay while our regular units handle the Kiliaak. We’ll also be taking the opportunity to test out a new weapon.” He pointed to the one way mirror on the back wall, and flipped a switch. The mirror turned translucent, revealing a bird’s eye view of a construction hangar.
“This is our newest weapon. We call it ‘Project Lazarus’ or sometimes just ‘lazy boy’ when we’re in a hurry.” The Commander looked at the cyborg propped up in the hangar with pride.
Joseph and Victoria looked at the project.
Joseph recognized it quickly. “Wow,” he said, “That’s… gross.”
“Perhaps, but we’re at war, and the Kiliaak are churning out kaiju faster than we can kill them with what we have. Not to mention the recent resurgence in natural kaiju attacks. We currently have four class one kaiju mechs, and you know you can’t be everywhere at once. We need as many as we can build. Anyway, you will be accompanied by Lazy Boy on your mission. Make all necessary preparations, and head out. You are dismissed.”

Later, after the Davis’ left, Project Lazarus was taken to a large field nearby the base. This was the first time the cyborg would be fully activated, and there was no telling for sure what would happen. Archangel and RagnRok stood by in case the worst happened. Everyone watched with bated breath as it powered on.
Anguirus’ eyes snapped open, and he let out a roar of agony. Reliving the moments of his death Anguirus was in agony. He thrashed against the restraints, but then felt something strange. A cool, calm voice floated through Anguirus’ mind. The pain went away as the Artificial Intelligence housed within the cybernetics calmed the pained kaiju. The AI then addressed the scientists.
“Don’t worry, I’ve got him under control. Systems online and running smoothly.”
The room erupted in celebration. The scientists clapped each other on the back and cheered.
The AI ran another check, and declared, “Project Lazarus is ready for battle.”

HEIGHT: 45 meters at shoulder
WEIGHT: 20,000 tons
FACTION: GDF

POWERS: Lazy Boy is the flawless combination of Anguirus' agility and speed, with the GDF's advanced firepower. ressurected from the corpse of Anguirus and implanted with cybernetics, project Lazarus has all the strengths of organic and cybernetic kaiju. He is very quick on his feet, and can jump and dodge with skill. Lazy boy can tuck away the cannons on his shoulders and roll into a ball, rolling and bouncing about, to attack enemies. his tail ends in a solid club, which he uses as a bludgeoning weapon. on the other hand, Lazy boy wields advanced weaponry, such as electricity emitters and shoulder cannons. these devices are controlled by the AI that shares Anguirus' body.

{eggs were broken, but here's the omlette! a while back, I got a bit of fan backlash for killing off Anguirus during Kraken's first appearence. now, as I realize the lack of balance, I began giving more kaiju to the GDF, and this guy is one of them. to those wondering about how exactly the AI works, think of Anguirus as a horse. he runs around and does the work, while the AI is the rider, who tells the horse where to go and what to do. I was going to give him a pilot, but I liked this idea better. I hope all you angy fans enjoy this!}
